Briano captures a speedy snake on a popular tourist beach

Briano rescues Kingy the dolphin

Animal rescuer, Briano Coulter

Wildlife Warrior Profile
Briano saves a pelican from a nasty fishing hook injury

NAME: Briano Coulter

JOB: Animal Rescuer

DUTIES:

Rescuing sick and injured wildlife, releasing rehabilitated animals back into the wild and relocating wildlife to safer habitats. I bring any sick or injured animals back to the Australian Wildlife Hospital for treatment.

MOST MEMORABLE RESCUE:

I rescued a dolphin from a local beach which was an awesome experience. He had been tangled in shark nets, which had damaged his pectoral fins, top jaw and mouth. I untangled him and guided him to the shore. Our vets were waiting on the beach and treated him with antibiotics, pain relief, oral fluids and he was x-rayed with a portable x-ray machine. He was then taken to a marine wildlife care unit for treatment and rehabilitation.

ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO SOMEONE WANTING TO WORK FOR WILDLIFE WARRIORS:

If you truly have a passion for animals then my advice is to learn all you can about them and volunteer at a zoo or wildlife park. You have to put in the hard yards to gain experience with all kinds of animals.

WWW COMMENT:

Briano is a legend amongst our team and a fantastic bloke to work with! He has the knowledge and skills required to rescue every type of animal you could imagine - he can capture venomous snakes, bring100+ kg sea turtles to shore, climb tall gum trees to rescue koalas and even capture crocodiles. His days are definitely action-packed!
